Generation Faith

Before I start posting here, I just want to explain my purpose behind Generation Faith: Reaching The Digital Age. Posts here will consist of everyday findings in the media that influence youth and how I personally view those influences from my own Christian perspective.

I don't claim to be an authority on anything and all posts are based on my own personal convictions. I will never condemn anyone who chooses to act on their own convictions, even if they are against my own because I'm not the Holy Spirit. I will not attempt to influence anyone's decision towards my own. My point is to deliver the pros and cons of things that catch my attention and/or are creating buzz. Each person has the job of deciphering through information and then make their own choice. I do not want to cause anyone to stumble, so please, I pray that no one takes anything I say and runs with it! I'm still human and may falter, so please, always research anything FULLY and most importantly make sure your number one research is from the Word of God and what the Holy Spirit is speaking to you.

I'm simply a 21 year old trying to follow Christ as best as I can. It's very hard to be in the world and not of it, especially in the 21st century. Growing up, I can vouch that it was very difficult not watching certain things, listening to certain music, or reading certain books (this was when Harry Potter first became big too!) because of my mother's guidance while my friends went on and on about things they did. However, "obedience is better than sacrifice" [1 Samuel 15:22] and what she taught me allows me to make my own decisions now that I'm an adult knowing that everything I do should be unto the Lord and that it is to Him alone I will have to stand accountable to. And now that I'm an adult, I realize I never really missed out on anything. I hope to someday have children of my own and guide them based on the Word of the Lord and how the Holy Spirit leads me onward.

So, the point of this blog is really, in part, for my own deciphering through the good and the bad the media has to offer and maybe to help, God willing, others in raising their own standards one piece of media at a time.

1 Corinthians 10:23-33 (from the NIV)

23"Everything is permissible"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"—but not everything is constructive.

24Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others.

25Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience,

26for, "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it."

27If some unbeliever invites you to a meal and you want to go, eat whatever is put before you without raising questions of conscience.

28But if anyone says to you, "This has been offered in sacrifice," then do not eat it, both for the sake of the man who told you and for conscience' sake

29the other man's conscience, I mean, not yours. For why should my freedom be judged by another's conscience?

30If I take part in the meal with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of something I thank God for?

31So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

32Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God

33even as I try to please everybody in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved.
